A field experiment conducted at Agronomy farm, College of Agriculture, Dapoli during Kharif season for evaluating eight different insecticides against leaf roller, Sylepta derogata (Fabricius) on okra, revealed that at first spray and second spray, the insecticide Cypermethrin at 0.05 per cent concentration was most effective against the leaf roller at 7 DAS (Average 0.25% and 0.01% leaf damage, respectively) and 14 DAS (average 0.10% and 0.00% leaf damage, respectively) and produced significantly higher yield. This was followed by Monocrotophos at 0.04 per cent concentration after 7 DAS (Average 0.35% and 0.06% leaf damage) and 14 DAS (Average 0.18% and 0.00% leaf damage), quinalphos at 0.05 per cent concentration at 7 DAS and 14 DAS of first spray(Average 0.45% and 0.18% leaf damage) and Endosulfan at 0.05 per cent concentration at 7 DAS and 14 DAS of second spray (Average 0.08% and 0.01% leaf damage). The neem product (Azadirachtin 1500 ppm) @ 5 ml/litre of water was found to be least effectiveat 7 DAS (Average 2.40 % and 0.60 % leaf damage) and 14 DAS (Average 1.35% and 0.35% leaf damage) after both the sprays for control of S. derogata. The treatment with Mechanical control (i.e, mechanical destruction of infested leaves) though ineffectiveafter 7 DAS and 14 DAS of first spray was found to be effective at 7 DAS and 14 DAS of the second spray when was synchronized with the insecticidal application.
