Ricebean, Vigna umbellata (Thunb.) is one of the important vegetable and pulse crops widely grown in Asia, West Indies, East Africa, Australia and U.S.A. In India, its cultivation is spread over West Bengal, Assam and N.E.H. States. It is very rich inessential amino acids. It is found to be an alternate host of soybean insect pests (Verma and Singh, 1991).-Information on the pest complex is very scanty (Anon. 1990, 1993). Hence, it is necessary to know the pests associated with the crop. Therefore,the present studies are undertaken to know the insect fauna inflicting damage to ricebean crop.
