Bio-efficacy of selected insecticides against pest complex in okra Abelmoschus esculentus Linn.

A field experiment was carried out during summer 1997 to evaluate the bio-efficacy of three test insecticides, viz., dichlorvos (0.1 & 0.2 percent), cypermethin (0.006 & 0.012 percent) and dimethoate (0.03 & 0.06 percent) against the pest complex ofokra. Dimethoate at 0.06 percent was adjudged to be the most effective insecticide against aphids and jassids with slight acaricidal action followed by dichlorvos at 0.2 percent. Cypermethrin @ 0.012 percent was found to be the most effective insecticideagainst okra shoot and fruit borer. In laboratory bio-assay all the three insecticides at low and high concentrations gave cent per cent mortality of shoot and fruit borer.
