摘要

An attempt was made to compare various natural products, viz., Neem oil, Karanja oil, Bacillus thuringiensis subsp israelensis (Bti), petroleum product kerosene and a commonly used pyrethroid, Permethrin 10 EC for their larvicidal action against Culex quinquefasciatus. Of the products tested, all the bioproducts proved to be a better larvicide. However, the effect of Bti on mosquito larvae was more profound than the other test products even at lower concentrations of 2.10 X 10~5 percent w/v followedby Karanja oil. The Neem oil used was as effective as the petroleum derivative Kerosene. The pyrethroid had a remarkable effect on mosquito larvae at a very low concentration of 0.36 X 10~5 percent v/v.
