Non-profit to expand household chemical exposure study

The Silent Spring Institute last week announced it would expand a study that measures the levels of chemicals in households.Six years ago,the institute - a non-profit scientific research organization working to identify environmental causes of breast cancer - tested the air and dust for chemicals in 120 homes around Cape Cod,Massachusetts,which was chosen because of its 20% higher incidence rate of breast cancer compared to the rest of the state.Massachusetts itself has one of the five highest incidence rates of breast cancer in the United States.
