Two Australian states lift GM crop bans

The Australian states of Victoria and New South Wales(NSW)will be the first to allow farmers to,grow genetically modified(GM)food crops on a commercial scale.NSW Primary Industries Minister Ian Macdonald said the state is ending its four-year moratorium on GM canola crops when it expires in February 2008,despite pleas from anti-GM states Western Australia and Tasmania to maintain the ban.
