Pesticide makers seek input on endangered species restrictions

Three pesticide manufacturers submitted a petition to EPA Jan. 19 asking the agency to notify the public and solicit stakeholder input when implementing new restrictions on pesticide use in compliance with the Endangered Species Act. Dow AgroSciences, Makhteshim-Agan of North America and Cheminova are about to see restrictions placed on the use of chlorpyrifos, diazinon and malathion in parts of California, Washington, Oregon and Idaho to protect endangered salmon and steelhead species.
