Evaluation of Emamectin benzoate against Brinjal Fruit Borer, Leucinodes orbonalis (Guen.)

Two field trials conducted to evaluate the efficacy of emamectin, indicated that emamectin (5 SG) applied @ 10,8.75 g ai ha~(-1) were more effective against brinjal fruit borer as compared to the standard checks. Emamectin @ 7.5 g ai ha~(-1) was found to be on par with profenofos 50 EC (750 g ai ha~(-1)) and X-cyhalothrin 5 EC (30 g ai ha~(-1)). But in terms of cumulative reduction in fruit damage, emamectin treatments were found to be superior to the standard checks. Emamectin @ 7.5 g ai ha~(-1) exhibited a maximum cost benefit ratio and can be recommended for borer management in brinjal.
