Otiorhynchus in ornamental nurseries: biology and test of a new insecticide

The origin, biology and damage caused by Otiorhynchus sulcatus to ornamental nurseries in France are described. The insecticide Talstar Flo (bifenthrin) was evaluated for the control of this pest on Lonicera nitida Maigrun in France during 2001, aspreventative and curative treatments. The efficacy of control was 90.5% as a preventative measure, and 100, 99.4 and 91.7% when applied 27, 57 and 90 days after infestation, respectively.
