USDA study reveals cows immune to effects of perchlorate

A USDA Agricultural Research Service(ARS)study has revealed that cow stomachs can break down perchlorate in feed even at the highest possible doses,and that the animals are virtually immune to any health effects associated with the chemical.The study,published in the Oct.31 issue of The Proceedings of the National Academy of Science,will help researchers assess environmental influences on milk perchlorate levels and provide them with a context for assessing the potential impact of dairy products on human health.ARS is USDA's chief in-house scientific research agency.
