THEODORE MAIMAN IN VANCOUVER

Dr. Theodore H. Maiman invented the laseron May 16, 1960. This invention opened anew era of discoveries and inventions and isconsidered one of the most important inven-tions of 20th century. In 1999 Maiman arrivedin Vancouver; he joined Simon FraserUniversity in 2001. Besides helping indesigning photonics courses in the new bio-medical engineering program he continuedresearching the possibility of making a high-ly efficient vertical start airplane. In May2007 Maiman died of systemic mastocytosis,leaving behind him a legacy which provedagain that ancient Horatio's "Non omnismoriar" is correct in exceptional cases.
