For the real-life situation of a vehicle vaulting over the side of an elevated roadway and landing on the ground below, it became necessary to determine the unique angle which results in the minimum possible vehicle launch speed consistent with the vehicle's known landing position. The angle for minimum launch speed, together with the minimum launch speed itself, are determined from the horizontal range of the projectile and the height of the elevated roadway. These results are then compared with other, better known, results in two-dimensional projectile motion situations.
