This discussion demonstrates a theorem that, if some hypothetical metric gap for eitherfield-space or spacetime exists which couples to spin4 field/particles, one can define a class offour-indexed spin-1/2 fields φ~α(x)with which the standard modelSU(3)XSU(2)XU(1)gauge groupis automatically associated due to topological and geometric considerations, regardless of the natureof the field equation by which any specific field φ~α(x) is defined. Specifically, for this class of fieldsφ~α(9, which reduces to a physically equivalent unindexed field φ(x)in flat space where the metricgap reduces to the Minkowski metric ηαβ, gauge transformations become exactly identified withcovariant transformations under general reference frame transformations. This identification is usedto construct a novel source of CP violation which may help to explain the degree to which thesymmetry between matter and antimatter observed in the hniverse is broken.
