摘要

The absurdly large vacuum energy density p_v predicted by quantum field theory isreduced by a negative cosmological constant A < 0 to a renormalized vacuum en-ergy p_v' v + A/(8π), which can be positive or negative. Three inflation eras,due to three symmetry breakings, are explained by large positive values of p_v'The big bang is explained as a singularly inflationary symmetry breaking thatended the Planck era and began the grand unified era. Accelerating expansion inthe present era is explained by a small intergalactic p_v' > 0 interpreted as darkenergy. It is then shown how intragalactic p_v' < 0 can simulate dark matter bycreating a generalized Schwarzschild–anti-de Sitter metric with a gravitationalharmonic oscillator potential that Newtonian physics attributes to a uniform haloof dark matter.
