摘要

Recently, as part of the Department of Health's drive to minimise drug administration errors in critical care areas, the Councils of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland, the Faculty of Accident and Emergency Medicine and the Intensive Care Society all agreed to recommend the adoption of a single standard for syringe labelling. The coding system, which they are recommending, is already used in North America and Australasia. This initiative has not been supported by the NPSA, on the basis that it is still a system that may encourage the association of colour to identify differences between drugs.
