OYSTAR Manesty, in collaboration with the British company Tera View and the Universities of Cambridge and Liverpool, is developing new technology that enables pharmaceutical tablets to be inspected online. The terahertz technology examines critical quality criteria such as hardness, density, coating thickness, moisture content, particle size and temperature during the manufacturing process in fluidized bed apparatus. The technology analyzes the inner structure of tablets without causing any damage to the tablets themselves. As a result, very few tablets are rejected and significant time savings are made.
