Renewable power plants

The number of biomass-fuelled power generation facilities in the Czech Republic rose from 25 in 2003 to 38 in 2009. Today, the figure has further increased to 59 plants, with a total installed capacity of 1,677 MWe (up from 1,379 MWe in 2003). However, the statistics could be considerably higher if there wasn't a shortage of biomass feedstock, according to Ladislav Pelcl, Director of Prague-based energy consultancy VUPEK.
