North American shale play prospects

According to a series of North American shale play reports from market analyst GlobalData, production from the US Bakken shale increased from 9.3mn boe in 2004 to 70.9mn boe in 2009, at an average annual growth rate (AAGR) of 40.6%. Production in the play is expected to continue to increase, to reach 211.4mn barrels in 2020, at an AAGR of 9.9%.
