摘要

Recognition of fractured zones plays a significant role in exploration, development, and production of hydrocarbon. In fact, the first step in study reservoirs (especially fractured reservoirs) is recognizing fractures and then estimating and analyzing them. Although almost all of the hydrocarbon reservoirs are influenced by natural fractures, the role and behavior of fractures in reservoirs still is no recognized well. Usually prediction of behavior of reservoirs due to different behavior of fractures is difficult. Image logs are suitable tools to recognize fractures. They provide a virtual image of the borehole wall condition. The authors recognizedand interpreted fractures of two oil fields of southwestern Iran. All of the fractures are open fractures with dominant strike direction of northeast-southwest. The direction of horizontal stress is determined using direction of borehole breakouts and induced fractures.
