New nitrogen facility for Grain LNG

Air Products has unveiled plans to build a new facility to supply nitrogen to National Grid's Isle of Grain LNG terminal on the Isle of Grain, Kent. The facility will support National Grid's Phase III development of an LNG terminal at the site. E.ON, Iberdrola and Centrica will supply the LNG, and the nitrogen supplied by Air Products will help adjust the LNG quality to the appropriate UK natural gas specification. The facility is expected to be onstream in the winter of 2010/2011. It will be the third Air Products' owned and operated nitrogen generation facility on the Isle of Grain. The earlier two came onstream in autumn 2005 to supply to Phase I of the LNG terminal, and in winter 2008 to supply to Phase II.
