Technology plays the differentiator

The new decade finds the seismic and related geoscientific technology in the E&P industry focused increasingly on meeting the challenge of locating, and maximising production from, the remaining hard-to-find hydrocarbons resources needed to meet growing world energy demand. In what has been a less than encouraging business environment, the main service sector companies have persevered with their belief in technology differentiation as the key to success. As a result, the rate of innovation and the introduction of new products and services have never been more rapid. Ironically, it has almost got to the point where many potential oil company clients may be left behind as they lack the in-house resources and expertise to take advantage of the advances being made.
