Buoyant upstream M&A in 2010- Wood Mackenzie

Wood Mackenzie's review of upstream mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in 2009 has shown that the market staged a strong recovery over the course of the year, and predicts a continuation of healthy transaction levels through 2010.The report, Global upstream M&A -2009 in review and the outlook for 2010, shows that monthly deal activity climbed from record lows during 1Q2009 to near-record highs by year-end. The rebound was such that global M&A spend for 2009 recovered to top $150bn, up by over 35% year-on-year and only 15% below the record investment levels of 2006.
