Upstream independents fare well in 1H2010

Deloitte has produced its second ranking of UK upstream independent oil companies, by tracking the leading 25 by market capitalisation in the first six months of the year.The first half of 2010 was broadly positive for the UK independent sector, with market capitalisation of the majority of companies in the league table increasing by 4.6% over the six month period to 30 June 2010, now standing at pound 26.482mn. The top five companies were Tullow Oil, Cairn Energy, Premier Oil, SOCO International and Heritage Oil. The top three positions remain unchanged from last year. Tullow Oil has 33% of the total market cap of the leading 25 upstream companies, a decline from 41 % six months ago.
