Norm Gilsdorf, president of Honeywell Process Solutions, says the company has had to make some "tough decisions" in the recession, hut that it "maintained focus" on its customers and the introduction of new technology. Indeed, over the past year, it released 54 new products. Safety and security concerns, as highlighted by the response by authorities to the 2005 Buncetield explosion and similar events in 2009 in Puerto Rico and India, is just one driving factor. Suppliers like Honeywell also have to take into account the overriding economic uncertainty, perennial resource constraints and the search for sustainability throughout industry.
