Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil Chemical have signed an agreement to progress the joint development of a world-scale petrochemical complex in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar. The proposed petrochemical complex would include what is thought to be the world's largest steam cracker, with a capacity of 1.6mn t/y; two 650,000 t/y gas phase polyethylene plants, and a 700,000 t/y ethylene glycol plant - also expected to be one of the world's largest.
