Adapting car technology to drilling

Technology that has helped improve the environmental performance of cars is being adapted to reduce the cost of drilling for oil.Engineers at the University of Bath are working on a new pound 175,000 project that will help reduce the size and cost of the drilling systems used to reach oil reserves found as deep as 9.5 km (6 miles) underground.
