Comments on IDoEW

I'm disappointed to report that there has not been any progress an the identification of engineering work (IDoEW) since my last comment. SAIMechE participated in an ECSA IDoEW forum on 8 Dec 2011, but did not support the subsequent position statement produced by ECSA. SAIMechE was the only VA (Voltuntary Association) to formally state non-support of ECSA's position. SAIMechE's non-support was interrogated at ECSA's IDoEW Steering Committee meeting on 8 Feb 2011, and ECSA's Prof. Hu Hanrahan also made an IDoEW presentation to SAIMechE Council on 25 Feb 2011, but was unsuccessful in convincing us to support ECSA's position. We have also made our non-support of ECSA's position known to the CBE, they being the other party in this protracted struggle.
