The year started badly for those involved in security for the oil and gas industry, with the tragic attack on the In Amenas gas facility in Algeria highlighting the ever-present security threats faced by the energy sector. However, threats are not limited to the physical world and the increasing incidence of online attacks against corporations from 'hacktivists', terrorists and organisations with quasi-national links means that companies must also be vigilant in addressing ever-present and unseen cyber threats that can have very significant consequences.
