Dynamic flow measurement for vessel discharges

The SUMED-operated Ain Sukhna terminal is a crude oil receiving terminal on the Red Sea, which imports crude oil from VLCCs discharging via offshore single point moorings to tank storage. The oil is then transported via two 42-inch diameter pipelines to Sidi Kerir, located on the Mediterranean coast, for onward export by sea. This operation saves the cost and time for VLCCs to sail around the Cape of Good Hope as well as offering cargo tailoring and storage services to users. Accurate flow measurement is of key importance to SUMED, with any measurement error or systematic offset impacting the company's profit and competitive position.
