Liebherr Africa has delivered a new Liebherr LTM 1030/2 mobile crane to New Vaal Colliery for pit lifting. The Liebherr LTM 1030/ 2 is ideally suited to this application as it is small yet offers a large lifting capacity and long boom length. Compared to its predecessor, the lifting capacities of the UM 1030/2 have been increased to an average of 20 percent within the entire load spectrum. The telescopic boom features an optimised oviform profile with a simplified bearing technique and, at a length of 30m, offers a distinct increase in under-hook height and radius. The oviform boom profile, with the multiple-fold in the lower shell, has increased lifting capacity and radius. The proven, three-stage, hydromechanic telescoping system, with hydraulic ram and double pulley block, ensures synchronous extension and retraction of the three telescopes.
