For gas turbines and their operators, life is more intense than ever. Cyclic, stop/start operation; oil sump volumes that are shrinking but are being asked to support the turbines giving the same or increased power; and greater burdens on vital components like gearboxes and bearings. All of this is coupled with environmental legislation that demands a continuous reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emission levels.
