Boosting the Arab Spring

Libya, like Iraq, still fresh from its revolution in the 'Arab Spring', is at a turning point for its oil and gas industry. Progress has been encouraging, defying expectations that it could take the country up to three years to recover production. The Chairman of state run National Oil Corporation, Nuri Berruien, has claimed production is already back to over 1mn b/d, putting Libya on course to achieve pre-conflict levels of 1.6mn b/d before the end of the year. In January 2012, Es-Sider, Libya's largest port and the most heavily damaged in the civil war, resumed loadings.
