The largest single product of the global oil and gas industry is neither oil nor gas,but water-produced at a rate of approximately three barrels to every single barrel of oil.It is estimated that in 1999 the oil and gas industry was responsible for extracting 77bn barrels of water,equivalent to a barrel a month for every man,woman and child alive in the world today.
