Utility sector could benefit from developing 'budget airline model'

The UK domestic power and gas markets have undergone significant changes since liberalisation in the late 1990s.Prices that residential customers have paid for their power and gas have consistently risen on the back of wholesale market cost increases and market consolidation within the sector.However,2007 has not only seen the brakes applied,but the first real sign of price decreases flowing through to consumers due to lower wholesale costs and the increased appetite of suppliers to acquire profitable customers.
