Exploration potential still underestimated?

Sub-Saharan Africa political risk, regulatory risk, graft and security issues have caused the region to be less explored than its geologic potential warrants. Furthermore, new technology has made possible exploration of plays that were previously difficult to access. As more world-class discoveries are made, interest in the region will only increase. Below are outlined four recently successful play types, and where RFC Ambrian believes the next successes are likely to be. In terms of the size of resources likely to be discovered, the West African coast pre-salt play is likely to yield the most positive results over the next few years.
