Pity the Canadian oil patch-while most folk only have to put up with spectres and wraiths in October, the oil and gas industry has been beset by frightening scenarios the entire year.Gordon Cope reports. The price of natural gas has been a persistent hobgoblin ever since US storage hit a pre-winter maximum of 3.6tn cf last autumn. Thanks to a mild winter and relatively cool summer, reserves have failed to draw down appreciably, and a persistent glut has ensured that prices in western Canada have hovered below C6/mn Btu,dipping under C5 during the summer doldrums.
