Many arguments today centre on the maritime industry's 'willingness' to see the global sulphur emissions cap postponed to 2025, as well as the refiners' ability to provide sufficient quantities of low sulphur product to meet demand. According to Esben Poulsson, Vice Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping and President of the Singapore Shipping Association: 'The IMO (International Maritime Organisation) sulphur rules, especially the global cap, are potentially truly game-changing, perhaps far more so than issues around ballast water or even developments with respect to shipping and climate change.'
