Organochlorine in naphtha results in equipment corrosion, pipeline blockage, and catalyst poisoning in catalytic reforming units and hydrotreating units. The occurrence of organochlorine in naphtha has been studied. Gas chromatography with electron capture detection and a microcoulomb titrimeier were used to determine the content of the organochlorine in naphtha. The result showed that the organochlorine in naphtha exists mainly in the form of chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, tetrachloroethane, and 1,2-dichlorobenzene at 0.1567, 0.0216, 3.3206, and 4.5154 ng/mu L, respectively. Trace amounts of organochlorine were not delected using gas chromatography with electron capture detection.
