A safe industry

Safety is not something you can fix and then walk away from saying 'job done'. It requires constant vigilance. For the most part, it is about making sure that common, well-understood precautions and procedures are in place and working as they should. Achieving this requires constant vigilance from industry leaders and managers at all levels. HSE's overarching philosophy is those who create risks are responsible for managing and controlling them. Industry efforts to achieve consistent, effective management of risks across the oil and gas sector have not been entirely successful. There has not always been a consistent focus on ensuring necessary and sustained improvements across the industry.
