If there's one thing you can rely on the oil and gas sector to be, it's innovative. So it's no surprise to see that the skills challenge the industry faces is being met with an impressive range of initiatives-from cross-training, to apprenticeships, to campaigns. However, the task ahead is monumental in scale and scope. With projections from the International Energy Agency (IEA) for global hydrocarbon demand to reach over 99mn b/d for oil and almost 5,000bn cm for gas by 2035, demand for skilled workers-from piping designers to project managers-is only heading in one direction.
