Methods for determination by atomic absorption spectroscopy of toxic elements in shunlite active substance were developed. Use of shunlite as an enterosorbent was demonstrated to be promising. Shunlite is a mineral mixture consisting of quartz (SiO_2, 28-32%), kyanite (Al_2SiO_5, 28-32%), microcline (K, Na[AlSi_3O_8], 4-6%), graphite (29-31%), and chamosite ([Fe, Al, Mg]_6[SiAl]_4O_(10)[OH]_8, 1 - 3%) [1]. The pronounced sorption capacity that shunlite exhibits for highly toxic heavy metals and certain organic compounds [2, 3] suggests that it is promising as an enterosorbent if it can be proven that it has low contents of toxic elements. The goal of the present work was to determine by atomic absorption spectroscopy the contents of toxic elements in shunlite.
