Palliative Radiation Therapy

摘要

Many animal owners are reluctant to opt for euthanasia when their pet has incurable cancer. Palliative radiation therapy offers an opportunity for improvement in the quality of the remainder of a pets life. Palliative radiotherapy can be delivered ina relatively short time and is associated with few side effects. The role of palliative irradiation for relief of bone pain is relatively well understood but there is considerable knowledge to be gained regarding its use for treatment of soft-tissue tumors.
