摘要

A discussion of the development of the technology for making iodinated pastilles and studies of the optimum methods for incorporating potassium iodide into the medicinal formulation is presented. Physicochemical studies of the resulting pastilles were performed. Numerical measures which serve as a basis for standardizing this preparation were determined: qualitative and quantitative estimation of potassium iodide, reducing substances content, water content, and pastille acidity.According to reports from the Institute of Nutrition, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, more than 80% of the population of Russia suffers from iodine deficiency. Dietary provision of iodine is inadequate. This leads to iodine deficiency states accompanying the development of various diseases and having adverse effects on the nervous and endocrine systems and on the human body in general. Iodine is the obvious means of combating this type of deficiency. There are several reliable methods of enriching the environment and the human body with iodine: iodination of water, use of iodine-containing food products (salt, butter), and medicinal preparations [1].
