ESTIMATION OF CATIONIC SURFACTANTS IN MEDICINAL FORMULATIONS

Disinfectants containing surfactants, particularly quaternary ammonium compounds, as the active agents have a number of advantages: they can be used in the presence of patients (personnel) in therapeutic-prophylactic institutions and similar, they do not cause upper respiratory tract irritation, they, do not have strong odors, and they do not decolorize materials. Furthermore, many have, along with their disinfectant properties, cleansing actions, so disinfection can be combined with removal of contaminants. Thus, disinfectants based on surfactants (SA) are very convenient for routine and prophylactic disinfection [1]. Estimation of cationic surfactant antiseptics, disinfectants, and preservatives in medicinal formulations is of important practical interest. The complexity and laboriousness of existing chemical and microbiological methods prevents operational monitoring of their concentrations at local utilization sites [2-4].
