This tutorial illustrates the benefits of modelingcompensated neutron logging instrument responses. Recentprogress has been made with speeding up model computationsusing a forward model based on diffusion theory. Thecommercially available modeling code, PC~2, is applied tounderstanding and explaining the responses of neutron tools inhorizontal wells. For examples, the influence and detectability ofbeds below and adjacent to the horizontal wellbore and the effectsof non-axisymmetric invasion profiles are examined.
