Report forecasts economic Armageddon if neonic ban passed

Syngenta and CropLife, both of which stand to bear the brunt of a two-year, partial ban on neonicotinoid pesticides on crops that attract honey bees, have funded an apocalyptic report that says a ban on select chemicals "could lose ?17 billion and more," in addition to 50,000 jobs. Even worse, the 96-page report The Value of Neonicotinoid Seed Treatment in the European Union, published in January by Humboldt Forum for Food and Agriculture (HFFA), warns "a million people engaged in arable production and their livelihoods would certainly suffer if NNi (neonicotinoids) were lost."
