摘要

While TSCA reform appears to have stalled in Congress, EPA continues to take steps to address concerns about how its chemicals management program handles confidential business information (CBI), moving to rein in industry's use of CBI claims in a bid to make more safety information on chemicals available to the public. In the past 18 months, the agency has launched a voluntary effort with industry to review many existing CBI claims, outlined a new policy to tighten CBI claims for chemical identity in chemical health and safety studies, and required companies to provide upfront substantiation for processing and use information claimed as CBI as part of its new Chemical Data Reporting rule.
