EPA's America's Children pales in contrast to European counterpart's criticism

To hear EPA tell it in its 409-page report America's Children and the Environment, the health of the nation's children is showing significant improvements, based on measurements of chemical levels in the environment and surveyed populations initially during the 1990s and again during first decade of the century. That's in stark contrast to the agency's European counterpart, the European Environment Agency (EEA), which in its own voluminous report calls for an overhaul of environmental regulation processes to protect against a rising tide of pollutants (see story on p.1) and subsequent threats to good health of the general public.
