Sweden to ban BPA in business receipts and tickets

Sweden is planning to ban bisphenol A (BPA) from thermal paper most commonly used in business receipts and tickets. The Swedish Chemicals Agency (KemI) said on June 29 that it had presented a proposal to the government for a national ban. The move follows a government demand last April that KemI investigate the risk from BPA in till receipts and a ban on the substance in packaging of baby and toddler food announced at the same time. The EU has banned BPA in baby bottles since spring 2011.
