摘要

Grape cultivation is one of the most remunerative farming enterprises in India. Among different insect pests reported on grapes, the important pests include flea beetle, thrips, mealy bug, leaf hopper and non insect like mite. From 2007-08 onwards, the mite menace has been on increasing trend on this crop and caused loss (11.32-29.30 %) both in terms of quality and quantity. Six species of mites viz., Tetranychus urticae, T. cinnabarinus, T.neocoledonicus, Oligonicus mangiferus,O. unicae and Eutetr any chits orientalis are found causin damage to grapevine in India. Among them, the two spotted red spider mite T. urticae causes severe loss Maharahtara, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Both nymphs and adults suck the cell sap from lower surface of tenderleaves causing the cells to collapse and die. This damage is usually most conspicuous as pale colour spotting visible on the upper surface of the leaves. The infested leaves turn yellowish.
